In dialysis, intensive care, and in the treatment of patients suffering from burns, a bed weighing system is useful for monitoring weight changes. Patients suffering from fluid loss or undergoing fluid correction can be managed better by monitoring the patient's weight while the patient is in bed.
The instrument consists of four load cells mounted in the legs of the bed, or placed under the wheels, and a central control unit which calculates and displays the total weight of the bed. Changes in total weight can then be monitored.
