Many types of vibromassage apparatus exist. The most common type is used in the physiotherapy department to automate the application of massage. It is usually hand held and delivers a rapid shaking motion through a soft applicator. The device is usually electrically operated and contains a motor with an eccentric weight, but may include a different type of shaker. Effective treatment is claimed for arthritis, lumbago, sciatica, varicose veins, varicose ulcers, impaired circulation, and dispersal of adipose tissue.
