This is a special catheter for direct insertion into the trachea to relieve obstructed breathing or to effect anaesthesia. It normally has provision for connection to the normal anaesthetic equipment connectors and may have an inflatable cuff to provide a seal inside the trachea for positive pressure ventilation.
