SUCTION THERAPY APPARATUS

Typical Number in Hospital: 1 Cost Bands: 3 References:

Equipment exists for use in the physiotherapy department which can provide pulsating suction to flexible cups applied to the skin. The suction is often used to retain electrodes on the skin which are being used for some form of electrical therapy (e.g. interferential therapy). However, a therapeutic effect is claimed for the 'suction massage' itself.

The suction apparatus may have up to four outlets to which suction cups may be connected and there may be controls to set the strength of suction and the rate and duration of the pulsations.
