STRAIN GAUGE TRANSDUCER

These measure strain (stretch) and produce an electrical signal, usually by changing electrical resistance as the strain increases. They are used in some pressure transducers to measure the bending of the diaphragm and are also used in force transducers and displacement transducers. The strain gauge element is often a thin metallic film or wire which is glued on to the part which is being stretched.
