This provides a real-time analysis of speech patterns displaying frequency, amplitude and time on a storage oscilloscope. A print-out may be obtained on ultraviolet sensitive paper. This is similar to the sona-graph, or audio-spectrum analyser and may be found in the speech therapy department.

SPECTROGRAPH/SPECTROSCOPE r=1
This is a general term used for electronic devices which analyse signals into a histogram-type display of two of the features of the signals.
An example is an audio-spectrum analyser which shows the relative intensities of the various frequency bands in a speech waveform. These can be used to assist a patient with speech difficulties to form the sounds properly. Another version of the same type of instrument might be used to display or record frequency distribution of the doppler-shifted components scattered from the blood as detected by an ultrasonic blood velocity meter.
Spectroscopes are also used to display the energy distribution of radioactive decay as a histogram of the number of counts in each of many energy bands. These might also be called pulse-height analysers. The particular reactions involved may be identified from the energy spectrum.
