SKIN RESISTANCE METER

Typical Number in Hospital: 1 Cost Bands: 2 References:

The galvanic resistance of the skin is sometimes measured to demonstrate changes in mental activity such as surprise, pain, strain, and uneasiness, often with metal electrodes placed on the palm and wrist. The resistance is measured by including the resistance between the electrodes in the arms of a bridge circuit which can be balanced to give a null reading on a meter. The bridge is normally energized by a small direct current. The device is sometimes known as a lie detector.
