SHAKER

Typical Number in Hospital: 20 Cost Bands: 1,2 References:

This is a relatively simple device which causes a long rod to oscillate, and attached to this rod are several clamps which hold test tubes or small flasks in which chemical reactions are taking place. The shaking action causes mixing of the contents of the flasks or tubes ensuring a uniform chemical reaction. Shakers are used in the clinical chemistry laboratory where long periods of agitation are required.
