Ether and chloroform can be administered directly on to a gauze or lint in front of a patient's mouth to induce anaesthesia. The Schimmelbusch mask is a proprietary mask to facilitate the inhalation of these agents. It may be supplied in a modified form to permit the delivery of one or more anaesthetic gases at the same time.
