This is an expiratory valve for use in non-rebreathing anaesthetic circuits. It is a two-stage valve intended to improve on the performance of the single-disc expiratory valves (e.g. heidbrink), in that all the exhaled gases are vented to atmosphere, and excess fresh gas is also vented. The dead space is thus reduced. It consists of two spring-loaded disc valves.
