This is a device for artificial ventilation of the lungs, also known as a resuscitator. The term is normally applied to an emergency apparatus consisting of a self-inflating bag, valves, and face mask, perhaps with provision for an oxygen supply. Common types are the Ambu, Air Viva, Cardiff inflating bellows, Oxford inflating bellows and the Samson infant resuscitator.
