PHOTIC STIMULATOR

Typical Number in Hospital: 1 Cost Bands: 4 References:

This is a xenon flash unit designed to deliver brief flashes of light as a stimulus for electro-encephalography or for the electro-retinogram. The device consists of a photographic or strobe type of flash unit with supporting electronics to allow triggering from an external source or to operate at its own internal clock-rate and provide a trigger pulse for the recording apparatus. A photic stimulator is often included in a Ganzfeld stimulator together with other apparatus such as colour filters, fixation lights, and background illumination.
