Information about the systolic and diastolic pressure occurring in the ophthalmic artery, and also about the pulse wave velocity of the internal carotid artery can be determined by simultaneously recording pressure within the eye and pressure within the brachial artery. Equipment exists to measure these two parameters simultaneously; the pulsations within the eye are detected using an applanation tonometer. Such apparatus is not often found.
