This is usually a rigid endoscope with rod lenses for viewing directly inside the kidney through a dorsal puncture. In common with other endoscopes it has channels for irrigation, and instruments such as grasping and crushing tools, or for ultrasonic and electrohydraulic probes for stone breaking.
