This describes a range of instruments for cutting thin sections of tissue for examination under a microscope. Samples may be stiffened by embedding in paraffin wax or new plastic compounds, or by freezing. The instrument consists of a sample handler, a knife, and an inching mechanism to select the cut, thickness and angle required.
