Where an anaesthetic vaporizer is required to fit into a closed breathing circuit or where the gases are drawn through it by the inspiratory effort of the patient it must have a low resistance to the passage of the gases. Examples are the Goldman Halothane vaporizer, the McKesson, and Rowbottom. Low-resistance vaporizers may sometimes be called 'draw-over' vaporizers.
