One method of producing graphical records of rapidly changing signals (e.g. electromyographs) is by the use of a pen-less recorder in which ink is sprayed in a narrow jet from the axis of a galvanometer. Such recorders can produce a frequency response up to 1000 Hz since the inertia of the writing device is so small.
