IMPEDANCE BRIDGE

Typical Number in Hospital: 1 Cost Bands: 3 References:

An electronic impedance bridge is a device for calculating the impedance of an unknown resistor, capacitor or inductor (or combination of these), usually employing the Wheatstone bridge principle. Such units would only be found in an electronics laboratory in a hospital. The term impedance bridge may also be found in connection with the acoustic impedance (or admittance) bridge used in audiology clinics to assess middle ear pressure and other characteristics of the middle ear.

Electrical impedance measurements may also be used to replace a mercury-in-rubber strain gauge during venous occlusion plethysmography.
