These are used during the treatment of Raynaud's syndrome (White finger), chilblains, and arthritis. The basic system consists of knitted gloves with a fine heating element in the fingers and thumbs, or in the toe region in the case of heated socks. These are powered by a low-voltage rechargeable pack which is normally worn on the waist. A heated back-pack is also available which works on the same principle and is said to give some relief of back pain.
