Heart rate meters display heart rate in beats/minute from the ECG signal, heart sounds, doppler ultrasound signal (such as in the foetal heart monitor), the peripheral (e.g. finger) pulse, or photo-plethysmograph signal.
It is often included (sometimes as an option) on cardioscopes, and the rate may be displayed on a meter, as a bar- graph, or in figures on the monitor screen, or it may be presented as a graph of heart rate on a chart recorder.
