This is another name for a blood warmer used to elevate the temperature of blood to body heat during transfusion. They are usually heated water baths through which the blood is passed in a coiled tube although dry types exist in which the blood passes through a coil or bag enclosed between two heated plates. Electronic circuits control the temperature and provide protection against overheating.
