This is a therapy X-ray set which emits low-energy X-rays in the range of 10-100 kV. These sets will usually be used with open- ended applicators which are brought into contact with the skin, thus defining focal point to skin distance (FSD). The higher energies are used for treating superficial skin lesions and the lower energies for treating very superficial lesions and some skin disorders. Grentz-ray sets will be found in radiotherapy centres and in some skin clinics.
