A glottograph is another name for a laryngograph which displays an analogue of the movement of the vocal cords, derived from the impedance between two electrodes on the skin over the glottis. These are used in the speech therapy department to assist patients to make sounds correctly with the larynx. An alternative instrument exists (photoelectric glottograph) which registers the area of opening between the vocal cords in the vertical plane.
