This is a device to mix oxygen and air, or nitrous oxide and oxygen, before delivery. This may be a gas adder, an entrainment device, or blender. Many such devices may be used in anaesthetic or oxygen therapy apparatus which have different properties of interaction between the delivered flow rate and the relative pressure sources of the two gases. They normally employ pressure regulators, and separate or dual needle valves to change the proportions of each gas.
