Some X-ray procedures, such as cardiac or vascular investigations, require X-rays to be taken in rapid succession. In order to do this, a device is required to change the X-ray cassettes, or to move a large roll (e.g. 30 cm wide) of film, at sufficient speed. The difficulty of rapid film changing is compounded if bi-plane imaging is required and if simultaneous fluoroscopic screening is necessary.
Such devices are found in the X-ray department, particularly where cardiological investigations and angiography are undertaken. Such systems are not often found in use now.
