This is a system of valves and pressure regulators which fit on to a cylinder or pipe terminal of Entonox (50/50 nitrous oxide and oxygen) to provide intermittent (demand) flow of analgesia gases for use in labour, emergency surgery and dental surgery. Since Entonox does not liquefy under pressure the cylinder need not be kept upright in use, and the pressure gauge gives a true indication of cylinder contents, but if stored below zero centigrade the gases separate and must be warmed and agitated before use.
