ENDOTRACHEAL CONNECTOR

Typical Number in Hospital: 200 Cost Bands: 1 References: 2

During anaesthesia, this is used to join the endotracheal tube to the catheter mount and essentially consists of a small bent tube of metal or plastic. These may be a single piece (e.g. Rowbottom, Magill, Cobb's, Rink's Cardiff) or two part (e.g. Nosworthy, Knight's paediatric, BOC international 15), allowing easy disconnection for bronchial suction or circuit change. On single part connectors a stoppered suction port may be provided. Special types are also available for connecting to nasal endotracheal tubes and for procedures in which the patient's neck is bent some way from the usual position.
