ELECTROGLOTTOGRAPH

Typical Number in Hospital: 1 Cost Bands: 2,3 References:

Also called a laryngograph this produces a display on a cathode ray tube representing movements of the vocal cords. The signal is derived from ECG-type electrodes placed each side of the glottis, which measure electrical impedance changes. Such devices are used in the speech therapy department to aid diagnosis of voice disorders and are used in a form of feedback therapy to help the patient make sounds correctly. The voiscope is an extended version of the electroglottograph displaying speech fundamental frequency.
