DIALYSER WASHOUT DEVICE

Typical Number in Hospital: 20 Cost Bands: 2 References:

Early types of haemodialyser (e.g. Kiil) required reconstruction with new membranes each time they were used (two to three times per patient per week). Now, disposable dialysers are available which are more satisfactory in a number of ways, but the costs are high. Devices can be purchased which 'wash out' used disposable dialysers so that they can be reused a number of times. These usually consist of a set of valves and timers which provide a programme of washing and disinfection for the used dialyser.
