DIALYSATE PROPORTIONATING PUMP

Typical Number in Hospital: Cost Bands: References:

Most haemodialysis machines use a reservoir of a concentrated dialysate with purified tap water added to create the concentration required for passing through the artificial kidney. This is achieved in a proportionating pump which draws in the concentrate and tap water, and produces the correct mixture. The pump has a motor and gear train driving a double pump chamber, one for the dialysate concentrate, and the other for water, and the relative volumes of these chambers can be adjusted to change the mixing ratio.
