This device monitors the negative pressure of the dialysate fluid on one side of the dialyser membrane. Control of fluid removal from the patient's blood is effected by adjusting the suction created by an effluent pump. The pressure settings are monitored, usually within the main console of the haemodialysis machine, to prevent insufficient or excessive fluid removal.
