This is a special gynaecological type of endoscope for viewing into the pouch of Douglas, the ovaries and fallopian tubes. It is a rigid tube which is passed into the vagina and makes a puncture through the posterior wall into the space beyond. These are not often used now since the laparoscope, which is passed through the abdominal wall, has been found more satisfactory.
