Plaster casts may be removed using a pair of special shears or with an oscillating saw. This is a hand-held oscillating saw with a circular blade which, when placed on the surface of the plaster cast, will cut the hard material but will be unlikely to cause damage to the skin beneath because the oscillations are so small.
