In dialysis, in intensive care, and in the treatment of patients suffering from burns a bed weighing system is useful for monitoring weight and weight changes. Patients suffering from fluid loss or undergoing fluid correction can be managed better if their weight can be monitored while they are in bed.
The instrument consists of four load cells which are placed under the wheels of the bed and a central control unit which calculates the total weight of the bed. Changes in total weight can then be monitored.
